Musical Background :
Suma Hegde born in a musical artist family. Her father Shri G.G. Hegde who is well known Tabla Artist of karnataka. Her father has been influenced by traditional local folk art YAKSHAGANA and has designed a santoor by his own way.Suma started learning initial santoor techniques from her father.

Awards:

Scholarship awarded in 2011 from Sursagar in association with Indian Council for cultural Relation, Bangalore.
Got first prize by MARIKAMBA TEMPLE TRUST Sirsi, for district level instrumental competition in 2005 and 2006.
Got second prize by MARIKAMBA TEMPLE TRUST sirsi for devotional song competition in 2005.
Second prize in Hindustani classical music competition conducted at PRATIBHA KARANJI in – 2005.
